Fire on Playa Norte

Yesterday, 23.July 2009 we suddenly saw a huge plume of black smoke coming from Playa Norte, and our friend ran down to take some photos of the fire..

(The very observant of you may notice the black smoke in the background)

Looks like it`s no hope for this boat

It turned out to be a 43 foot luxury boat on fire, we read in the newspaper today it was an electrical fire, and that it was towed away from the beach in case of explosion..

Looks pretty dramatic, i feel sorry for the owner, hope it was insured!
Must be a long trip home for the unlucky owners..

(Thanks to Francisco for the photos)

Thanks for the video and pictures.

Very glad no one appears to have been ON the boat when it happened!

Yes, luckily they got out before it went out of control, but still, with so much water around, there should be a way to stop it.
